Four, 2019

Four is a black and white poster based installation work between two facing walls. Continuing again with similar themes from Wall Words Vol. 2 there was a struggle with making meaning and what to say and eventually what that does. The shapes on each poster are a font that was created as a way to explore and avoid meaning. With the words being illegible there was less pressure in worrying what to say. The coded text is asking to be read although you cant read it. It doesn’t say anything. This was another way of exploring the relationship between text and surfaces and how it plays a role in the viewing or meaning of a work. The posters also continue a conversation back and forth with each other but cannot be understood. It reflects the sides of me who are always in conversation. This conversation doesn’t always make sense and doesn’t need to. I am interested in viewing and seeing = understanding and how legibility and illusion create meaning.
